Mall owners aquire new property in Decatur

Garrison Investment Group, the owner of Decatur Mall, announced that it has acquired The Crossings of Decatur.

The area is located three miles east of Decatur Mall on Beltline Road.

“We see this as a win-win situation for the mall, The Crossings and for the Decatur community," said Kathy Hammond, General Manager of Decatur Mall. "Both retail entities combined will provide an array of shopping and dining choices, with the goal of keeping the tax dollars in Decatur to support the community,”

“This purchase represents a unique and special opportunity for us to grow our presence in Decatur," stated Mitch Salmon of Garrison Investment Group. "Since purchasing the mall in 2010, we have continued to demonstrate our tremendous confidence in Decatur by investing in its growth. Sen. Shelby praises Decatur business

Senator Richard Shelby was in Decatur on Saturday. He discussed important issues that affect Alabama and the nation.

Senator Shelby toured the United Launch Alliance production facility. The ULA launches critical equipment for the Department of Defense, NASA, the National Reconnaissance Office, and other commercial customers.

Senator Shelby said he was impressed with the amount of jobs ULA added since 2011. “In light of sustained high unemployment rates, I am pleased that ULA employs hundreds of Alabamians and plans to hire dozens more producing the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle here in Decatur,” said Senator Shelby.

Since 2011, ULA added 150 new jobs. ULA plans to add 70 more this year.
