Police charge woman with stealing pills from ailing friend

Police arrested a woman who had been stealing medication from an ailing acquaintance in Decatur.

The victim stated that she had Julia Rose Brewer stay the night so Brewer could help care for her. She stated that Brewer left the next morning around 11 a.m.  The victim noticed her medication had been stolen.

Police arrested Brewer at a nearby apartment and found the stolen pills.

Brewer was charged with theft second degree and her bond was set at $2,500.

Police find crack cocaine and marijuana during search

Decatur drug officials made a drug bust in Decatur on Friday.

Officials arrested four individuals after searching a residence on Memorial Drive. Police found marijuana, crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Brandon Carter was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $3,500.

On April 10th, 2012 Karee Langford and Donald Jones were traveling in the area of 11th Ave and 1st Street SW when their vehicle was struck by multiple gunshots that were fired from a black Pontiac G6.

The victim's vehicle was struck several times. One of the bullets passed through the back windshield, through the steering wheel, and into the front console narrowly missing the driver.  The victims...

Officials discover 25 meth labs in Morgan County woods

Sheriff Ana Franklin and the Morgan County Drug Task Force discovered a meth lab dumpsite on Wednesday. The dumpsite was located in two locations on Higdon Road in Falkville.

Agents reported 25 meth labs and gas generators were discovered. The discovery led to an investigation and to three arrests.

The cleanup took over three hours to complete. In addition to the meth labs several bags of meth related trash was also cleaned up.

The suspects could face additional charges such as littering and environmental violations. The investigation is ongoing.

Decatur Police arrest man for trying to shoplift at Walmart

Decatur Police arrested a man for attempting to shoplift at Walmart.

Carl Edward Deleo III was arrested and charged with third degree robbery.

On April 17th, around 3:40 p.m., a struggle ensued when employees of the Walmart on Spring Avenue attempted to detain Deleo after he tried to leave the store without paying for concealed merchandise. An off-duty investigator with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department saw the commotion and assisted the employees with taking Deleo into custody. 

A Walmart employee sustained minor injuries during Deleo's apprehension. 

Deleo will be transferred to the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.

Police arrest 3 after finding meth lab in vehicle

Three are under arrest after police find a meth lab in their vehicle.

Jason Ursury was arrested in Morgan County for manufacturing a controlled substance. Ursury was out on bond from a previous violation for the same charge.

Ursury was found at a local spot know as "Cold Hole" with the meth in his vehicle. He had two passengers with him.

Holly Shackleford and David Aaron were both charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ursury was booked on a $5,000 bond. Shackleford and Aaron were both booked on $300 bond.
