Sheriff : Drunken dog dispute lands man in jail | Crime
Somerville, AL (WAFF) - A drunken argument over a dog lands a men from Somerville in the Morgan County Jail.
According to Sheriff Ana Franklin, Charles "Junior" Maxwell started a fight with a neighbor on Highway 36 that started with him barging into the man's home, then hitting him, and swinging a knife on him.
Franklin tells us that the dispute began when Maxwell gave the neighbor a dog to take care of. Later that night, Maxwell apparently changed his mind, and demanded to have the animal back. The neighbors refused, and Maxwell shouted that they need to move out of the neighborhood. Moments later, Maxwell broke into the house, and hit the man inside. The man was able to wrestle Maxwell to the ground and calm him down. Police say when he was let go, Maxwell grabbed a kitchen knife and took a swing at his neighbor, then threw the knife down and ran out.
Morgan County deputies were called to the scene and found Maxwell in his home, apparently under the influence. He was arrested and charged with burglary. He's being held on $2,500 bond.
