New SVU tasked with investigating sexual offenses | Crime

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office formed a Special Victims Unit to specialize in the investigation of domestic violence and child abuse cases.

The SVU is located on the second floor of the Sheriff's Office and is a branch of the criminal investigations division.

Sergeant Pete Taylor, Investigator Eric Fields and Compliance Coordinator Cindy Crowell make up the new unit.

This specialized unit is tasked with maintaining compliance, registration enforcement of the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act, and records involving registered and convicted sex offenders. They will also investigate sexual offenses.

The branch will investigate other offenses involving domestic violence and child abuse within Morgan County.
