Traffic stop leads to drug bust, 2 arrests | Crime
Two Decatur residents were arrested Monday during a traffic stop for illegal possession of controlled substances.
Officers reported they pulled a vehicle over on Highway 31 for an equipment violation.
The driver, Tawny Ward, was issued three citations.
Ward and her passenger, David Gonzales, were asked to exit the vehicle and were searched. Officers found Gonzales had a pistol and two syringes of methamphetamine.
They also found Soma and Lyrica pills in the vehicle.
Both were arrested and taken to the Decatur City Jail.
During Ward’s processing, officers found a glass pipe and a syringe of methamphetamine.
Ward was charged with possession of a controlled substance, illegal possession of prescription pills, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
Gonzales was charged with possession of a controlled substance and carrying a pistol without a permit.
