Paroled killer arrested on drug charges in Morgan Co. | Crime
A routine traffic stop sends to a convicted killer back behind bars.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, 24 year old Jeremy Story was stopped near the intersection of Tammy Street & Central Parkway in Decatur on Tuesday. Deputies say he committed a couple of traffic violations. While searching Story, deputies found several Hydrocodone pills in his pocked. He was taken into custody and charged with drug possession.
While booking Story, deputies learned he was on parole for the 2007 murder of Margarito Lopez. According to court documents, Story pled guilty in November of 2009 and was sentenced to 20 years, ordered to serve at least three. He was released after just 18 months. Since being released in 2010, Story has had numerous run-ins with the law, including drug possession arrests before his murder case was settled, and an arrest for drug possession and chemical endangerment of a child in May of 2011.
A second man, Marquise Hester, was also charged with murder in the Lopez case. Hester remains in state prison, and is not scheduled to be released until 2050.
