Shoplifting melee lands woman in jail | Crime

A Decatur woman is being held in the Morgan County Jail following a fracas at Belk.

It happened Saturday, when officers were called to a shoplifting incident at the store. When they arrived, the officers found 38 year old Crystal Hamm Hill was being held by store security. The guards say the woman put handbags and wallets in her bag, then tried to leave without paying. The security personnel say they followed her into the parking lot, where she attacked them and tried to get away. The employees were able to subdue her until police arrived.

Hill was charged with theft, as well as public intoxication and illegal possession of prescription medication.

She's being held on $3,500 bond.
