Mother arrested when newborn tests positive for drugs | Crime
A mother was arrested after her newborn baby tested positive for THC.
Decatur Police said on September 20, 2012, Traci Zehler gave birth to a baby boy. At the time of the boy’s birth, the child tested positive for THC -- the active ingredient in marijuana.
Morgan County DHR and Decatur Police investigated the incident and determined Zehler had smoked marijuana fully aware that she was pregnant.
Zehler turned herself into police and was charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
