Decatur Police make theft bust after 6 month hunt for suspect

Decatur, AL (WAFF) - A six month long investigation finally pays off with an arrest.

In August of 2012, Decatur Police were called to check out a reported theft from Somerville Road. The victim told officers that she came home to find more than $2,000 worth of lawn equipment missing from her home. Police soon developed 33 year old Scott Johnson of Arkansas as a suspect. Within 4 weeks, they had enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant against him, but he'd already skipped town.

In early February, he popped up in Bowling Green, Kentucky, where local police took him into custody. Last weekend, he waived his rights to extradition and was sent back to Morgan County. He's being held on $2,500 bond.
